GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming is a thing that many of us are experiencing as of this moment. If you go outside you might notice that it has progressively been getting hotter. That is part of global warming. The heat that we have been experiencing for the last 100 years is unusual when it is compared with the past 2,000 years. Scientists are even more sure than ever that humans are one of the many causes of global warming. It had first started in the 1800’s when we first began to burn fossil fuels for energy. Since then, the entire world has warmed constantly and the average temperature of our world is now rising at nearly twice the rate than it was 50 years ago.

WHAT IS CAUSING GLOBAL WARMING?

There are many things that are causing global warming. Although, humanity is doing most of this to themselves. A group that provides us information on global warming has terminated that there are many greenhouse gases responsible for global warming. The main gas responsible for this problem in our environment is carbon dioxide, or CO2. For example, vehicles and other machines that use gas are producing carbon dioxide to pollute the air.

WHAT GLOBAL WARMING IS AFFECTING

2016 has been one of the hottest years on record. Data shown from NASA and NOAA show that the average global warming in 2016 was 1.78 degrees F. Now, we also have had 627 months warmer than normal, when it is contrasted with a 1881-1910 baseline. Global warming is also affecting other places such as the ocean. Oceans are becoming warmer and acidic. The glaciers and ice sheets are also melting and the sea levels are rising. Scientists have agreed that the earth’s rising temperatures are causing longer heat waves and more frequent droughts. They also agreed that its causing heavier rainfall, and stronger hurricanes. Additionally, in the Amazon around 17% of the forest was lost in the last 50 years.

THINGS THAT WE CAN DO ABOUT WARMING

Fortunately, humanity can put all of this to an end and save itself. There are many different things that we can do, from recycling to changing a single light bulb. Another example is keeping your tires inflated, just by doing this you can better your gas mileage by more than 3 percent. You can walk, bike, drive pool or take mass transit more often so that you can reduce the warming. If you do this you will save one pound of carbon dioxide just by not driving. It takes lots of energy to heat water up so instead you can use less hot water by just taking shorter and colder showers. You may also wash your clothes in cold or warm water instead of washing it in hot water and just by doing this more than 500 pounds of carbon dioxide will be saved per year.
